Welcome to Brussels and Waterloo District

One of the largest Districts in Benelux & France, Brussels & Waterloo District has 9 units; 2 Rainbows, 3 Brownies, 3 Guides and a Ranger unit. Most of the units meet in the Tervuren area to the east of the city, though there are 3 units in Waterloo, a Brownie unit in Kraainem and a Guide unit in central Brussels.

An active District we hold several cross-District events including annual activities, jointly with the Scouts, a Pantomime visit and residential weekends. The Brownies all can attend a pack holiday run once a year and the Guides have 2 or more camps. Most of these weekends are held at a fantastic Belgian Scout owned facility close to Brussels; De Kluis or de Hagaard (Chiro run). We have run full District weekends of activities for all girls, including a Rainbow sleepover. The Rangers have had a year of fun outings including a day trip to Paris.

At a unit level, recent activities included ice skating, swimming, an Escape Room and nature walks with the Rainbows and Brownies. Early this year 12 Brownies and 2 leaders went to the County Brownie Holiday which was held at a PGL centre near Paris. Five of our Rangers went to the World Jamborette in the USA with the Brussels Scouts. 12 of our Guides and Rangers attended the Haarlem Jamborette with 3 leaders. Several Brownies, Guides and leaders attend Compass 19, the BGO Holiday in the UK.

With some members, both adults and girls being long term Belgian residents and others passing through the District on short term contracts, we gain a wealth of experience, ideas and knowledge. We also know that we now have trained leaders around the world and love to welcome girls with a background in guiding or new to the organisation.
