Haarlem Jamborette 2019

Guides and Rangers from Brussels & Waterloo attended the International Jamborette in Haarlem, The Netherlands this summer. The theme of the camp was Steam Punk and the attendees of the four subcamps competed to gain kinetics and save the time machine.

We visited the railway museum in Utrecht, went to the beach and to Walabi, and participated in various activities on site which included a zip-wire, making go-carts, raft building, crafts and taking part in inflatable equipment sports. There was a day of hiking either in the surrounding polders or in the town of Leiden, with about half the group choosing to do each. Both groups had fun working out the challenges to find their route.

The girls also enjoyed the onsite time to get to know the other people at the camp, with attendees on our sub camp from Canada, France, Tunisia and Scotland to name a few. The open day was a feast of games, activities and food tasting as each group put on something to share their home culture.

The camp ended with a whole camp evening ceremony with singing, a show and finally a firework display.
