December 2017 message from the County Commissioner

Emma Nalson

Across our County many of our units have been having Christmas parties and attending other festive events, Christmas fayres and Carol services. It is a lovely time of year to join together in fun and celebration.

Last month I attended the Luxemburg Anglican Church Remembrance Day service where two Brownies very carefully carried and laid one of the wreaths, after the service the Brownies held a cake sale where they raised funds for help the heroes. It was great to be able to talk to the members of the community and hear how well respected our members and organisation is.

Whilst the big events and activities get publicised and the organisers thanked and recognised, I think it is important to remember that the most important part of girlguiding is the regular weekly meetings that take place every week. Across the county there are always leaders organising games, crafts, activities and leading discussion. Our young people are making decisions and learning to be confident, motivated and well-rounded members of their community, thanks to girlguiding leaders. I would like to thank each and every volunteer for their commitment and their energy.

As we move forward to 2018 and the launch of our new programme, I am sure across Benelux and France our units will continue to thrive and each and every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger will enjoy and learn from the dedication of our adult members.
