Winter 2020

Emma Nalson

Well, 2020 has arrived.

This is likely to be a year of changes within our County as many of our commissioners are moving on or coming to the end of their term in the position. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming involved in our districts, please do get in contact. It is not necessary to be a unit leader to take on the role.

In several instances, people take on the role new to the organisation. The role is about administration and people management, quite different skills to running a unit. As always, there is lots of support, training and lots of fun to be had.

This week, Girlguiding are celebrating current inspirational women. It is important that our young members see barriers broken down and know that “girls can”. This is also true of our adult members and I am very much looking forward to hearing Polar explorer, Sandy Hennis, speak at our forthcoming leaders training weekend. I hope to see many of our volunteers there.

The first of our section, County Events is at the end of this month. I know that many of our Rainbows are looking forward to their special party and the opportunity to connect through video link with other units across the County. I will be joining the Rainbow party at SHAPE so hope to see many of our youngest members through online video that evening from there.
