Summer 2020

Emma Nalson

Across the County and across the world we are starting the most different Summer Term that we have ever experienced. Plans for our normal summer camps and activities are cancelled and postponed and our communication is in a virtual world.

Girlguiding is continuing in many different forms through these strange times adapting to the circumstances and to the needs or our members both young members and our leaders. The girlguiding website is publishing different activities each week that our girls can do, units are sharing photos of what girls are up to, there have been virtual Easter parties, scavenge hunts and quizzes. It makes me so proud to be part of this resilient organisation.

I was also pleased yesterday to attend the virtual hand over of a BGO 100 nights away badge to one of our young members. An amazing achievement made possible by dedication on her part and on the part of the Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger leaders she has known. The badge was launched 10 years ago on the centenary of Guiding and it is possible this is the first badge awarded to a young member.

100 nights away

I would like to wish all our members all the best, stay safe and take this time to appreciate all the wonderful things that are around us.
