In the Spring Term 2018, 1st The Hague Brownies looked at the taster packs for the New Programme and decided to have a go at ‘Trefoil Trivia” and “Odd Socks”. From that the Brownies completed the World Guiding and Toymaker badges. For “Odd Socks” each six wrote a story and created sock puppets for the characters in the story.

The stories were then performed to the other Brownies. The stories were all different and the short plays very enjoyable.

The Brownies went on to make 2 more toys to complete for their Toymaker badges, some during the meeting time and some at home. The other toys included soft toys, board games and 1 Brownie made a Diablo, which is an old Victorian toy, using satay sticks, string and an egg box. Very imaginative!

For “Trefoil Trivia” and the World Guiding badge the Brownies learnt about the Trefoil and what the various parts mean, with a quiz. This was followed by designing World Thinking Day cards, which were sent to other Brownie units across our County and the UK. The Brownies made word searches for each other to solve and played “World Badge” beetle, among other things.

The favourite activity was making dolls wearing Brownie uniform from other countries, using various craft materials.
